"Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" picks up where the previous film left off, with Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (played by Evangeline Lilly) trying to navigate their personal lives while also battling new threats. Along the way, they encounter a new villain, Kang (played by Jonathan Majors), a time-traveling warlord who is determined to conquer all of time and space.

The 2023 film "Knock at the Cabin" is directed by M Night Shyamalan and based on a book by Paul G Tremblay. It follows a family on vacation in a cabin in the woods who are approached by four strangers with a proposal to save the world or face the end of it. The film stars Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, and Kristen Cui, with supporting roles from Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abby Quinn, and Rupert Grint. The ending is a bit different from the book and it is recommended to go into the movie without knowing anything for a better time.

The Little Things is a 2021 American neo-noir crime thriller film written and directed by John Lee Hancock, and produced by Hancock and Mark Johnson. The plot follows two police officers (Denzel Washington and Rami Malek) who try to catch a serial killer in 1990 Los Angeles when they find a strange man (Jared Leto) who becomes their top suspect.  

Locked Down follows a couple who plan to execute a heist of a jewelry store. It was written, financed, and filmed entirely during the COVID-19 pandemic. The film stars Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor, with Stephen Merchant, Mindy Kaling, Lucy Boynton, Mark Gatiss, Claes Bang, Ben Stiller, and Ben Kingsley in supporting roles.

Retired U.S. Marine Jim Hanson lives along the Arizona-Mexico border, reporting attempted illegal crossings. Hellboy is called into action to take on the newly resurrected Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), who plans to unleash a plague to wipe out all of humanity.

Kit (Brie Larson), a failed artist, moves back in with her parents (Joan Cusack, Bradley Whitford). Realizing she must conform to adulthood like her parents always wanted, takes up an office job at a temp agency. However, once she receives a mysterious letter from "The Salesman" (Samuel L. Jackson) who invites her to "The Store", the place that sells "what you need", her entire outlook changes. The Salesman offers her the chance to have it all by fulfilling her childhood fantasy: owning a unicorn. The film deals with the all too familiar crisis of choosing whether to pursue a more traditional "adult" life path or truly go after your dreams.

SORRY FOR THE AUDIO WEIRDNESS IN THIS EPISODE Director Jordan Peele returns for his sophomore film about a Black family that encounters their twisted doppelgangers while on vacation at the Santa Cruz beach. Years prior as a young child, the mother (Lupita Nyong'o) went missing there for 15 minutes and met her double. 

When five friends, all retired from active duty in the US military, decide to pull a heist on a cartel boss in Brazil their lives go in a direction that they were desperately trying to avoid. A story of greed and brutal circumstances that comes off more like a result of self-sabotage than the results of external enemies stars Oscar Isaac, Pedro Pascal, Charlie Hunnam, Ben Affleck, Garrett Hedlund, and Adria Arjona.

The latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe focuses on the introduction of a fighter pilot named Carol Danvers who finds herself living amongst an alien race called the Kree who have trained her to fight their shape-shifting enemies, The Skrulls. During this galactic face-off, Carol returns to Earth in pursuit of her enemies only to find out about her past and set a course to embrace her true potential.

An assassin named Duncan, also known as "The Black Kaiser" (Mads Mikkelsen), is 14 days from forced retirement at age 50. Duncan is forced to take on other assassins and Blut's henchmen to protect himself and his quiet and innocent neighbor Camille (Vaness Hudgens) who is dragged into the mayhem.

The film's story takes place after the Universe Survival Saga depicted in Dragon Ball Super. Under the tagline "the greatest enemy, Saiyan", the film depicts the fate of series protagonists Goku and Vegeta as they encounter a new Saiyan called Broly. In the beginning, it tells the history of the Saiyan race and the background story of these three Saiyans with different destinies connected to the turbulent period of their race, and later resulting in a massive fight between them

The film is a sequel to Shyamalan's previous films Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016), cumulatively forming the Eastrail 177 Trilogy. Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Spencer Treat Clark, and Charlayne Woodard reprise their Unbreakable roles, while James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy return as their Split characters, with Sarah Paulson, Adam David Thompson, and Luke Kirby joining the cast. In the film, David Dunn gets locked in a mental hospital alongside his once-rival Mr. Glass, as well as the multi-personality "The Horde," and must escape from a psychiatrist who is out to prove the trio do not actually possess super-human abilities.

Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and be a hero to the world. This is the sixth installment in the DCEU, and the second appearance of Jason Momoa as the titular hero, Aquaman. 

On Cybertron (a planet of sentient robots), the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are on the verge of losing the Transformer civil war to enemies, the Decepticons, and begin making preparations to leave the planet. A young scout, Bumblebee makes it to Earth where he teams up with a young girl (Hailee Steinfeld) while on the run from two Decepticons.

Decades after her original visit, the magical nanny returns to help the Banks siblings and Michael's children through a difficult time in their lives. The follow up is directed by Rob Marshall and starring Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins.

Under a philosophy known as "Municipal Darwinism", larger cities hunt and absorb smaller settlements in the "Great Hunting Ground", which includes Great Britain and Continental Europe. In opposition, an "Anti-Traction League" have developed an alternative civilization consisting of "static settlements" in Asia led by Shan Guo (formerly China), protected by the "Shield Wall." A young girl named Hester Shaw works alongside a young historian to take down London, once and for all.  

In the "classic Spider-Man mold", Miles Morales must juggle his high school life with his status as a superhero, as he is introduced to the "Spider-Verse" where there can be more than just one Spider-Man.

Jay and Micah sit down to discuss the latest and final season of Netflix's House of Cards. This season Claire takes the lead as the series pivots from Frank's story due to behind the scenes issues with Kevin Spacey. Claire, now president, must battle against the Shepards, a family of American oligarchs who are determined to undermine Claire at every step until she falls in line. This episode does contain spoilers for season 6 and previous seasons.

The sequel to the popular "Rocky" franchise, spinoff, "Creed" features Michael B. Jordan returning as Adonis Creed. Still working to live outside of the shadow of his father's boxing career, Adonis is pulled back in when the son of the man who killed his father in the ring wants to challenge him for the title.

A bouncer at a New York nightclub named Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen) takes a job as a famed black pianist's (Donald Walbridge Shirley) played by Mahershala Ali, chauffeur during a tour in the American Deep South, forging a close friendship while navigating the deep racism of the region. The film deals with interracial friendships, monolithic views of other races, and a reversal of community status in this story based on a true story. 

Ralph Breaks the Internet is the follow up to the wildly popular 2012, Wreck-It Ralph. This film follows the continued misadventures of Ralph (John C. Reily) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) as they make their way into the Internet to hunt for a video game steering wheel on Ebay. The two come across dying websites, Disney princesses, and much more in this animated journey that will lead them to find more than just a video game part.

Director Steve McQueen's fourth film, Widows, follows the lives of 3 women who are newly widowed as their husbands are killed during one of their heists. Harry (Liam Nesson), the leader of the team, leaves behind his wife Veronica (Viola Davis) who must pick up the pieces of her life. She starts to get harassed from Jamaal Manning, a local gangster who is running for alderman in the South-Side of Chicago. Jamaal demands his $2 Million dollars to be returned that Harry stole from him. Veronica must gather the other widows (Michelle Rodriguez and Elizabeth Debicki) together, along with a driver (Cynthia Erivo) to pull off one last heist job to get the money to pay back Jamaal and move on with their lives.

On the eve of D-Day, a paratrooper squad is sent to destroy a German radio tower in an old church; however, their plane is shot down before they can reach their target, leaving only five apparent survivors, Corporal Ford and soldiers Boyce, Tibbet, Chase, and Dawson. The team comes in contact with Nazi experiments to use the dead as soldiers.

mid90s on the surface is a skateboard coming of age film set in the 1990s, but if one goes deeper it's far more about building an extended family from your friends when your traditional family structure is lacking. Stevie (Sunny Suljic) is a 13-year-old kid who has a broken relationship with his brother and mother and is at an age that he needs some sort of family around him to guide him during his teenage years. To that end, Stevie befriends a group of skateboarders in Ruben, Ray, Fuckshit, and Fourth Grade. They step in as his replacement family and introduce him to a life that is full of little rules, adult-like experiences, and brotherhood that he's never known.

Halloween is a 2018 American slasher film directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Jeff Fradley, and Danny McBride. It is the eleventh installment in the Halloween film series, and a direct sequel to the 1978 film of the same name, while disregarding the continuity of the previous sequels. Set forty years after the original film, the plot follows Laurie Strode as she prepares to face Michael Myers in a final confrontation when he returns to Haddonfield, Illinois to finish her off for escaping his killing spree on Halloween night in 1978.

Director Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, La La Land) takes on the very personal story of Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) as he makes his way from pilot to the NASA program on his path to being the first man to set foot on the moon. The journey is a tightly shot, brutal exploration into what it takes to achieve your goals and how easily life can't seemingly break a man during that journey. Anchoring Armstrong back to Earth is his steadfast, non-shrinking violet wife, Janet Shearon (Claire Foy) who makes it clear that in order to be a true hero of history, one needs to remain connected to one's humanity while even aiming for the stars.

Investigative journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) attempts a comeback following a scandal involving the CEO of the Life Foundation (Riz Ahmed), but accidentally becomes the host of an alien symbiote that gives him a violent super alter-ego: Venom (Based on the Marvel villain). Soon, he must rely on his newfound powers to protect the world from a shadowy organization looking for a symbiote of their own.

When a combat sniper sees an alien ship crash to Earth during a mission, he is grabbed up the military, questioned about what he knows, and is moved into a unit of certifiable loons to keep him quiet. That alien that crashed was indeed a Predator and when it breaks free of its captors anything goes as it has a mission that no one can stop it from accomplishing. The film stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, and Jacob Tremblay.

The Darkest Minds is an American science fiction thriller film directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and written by Chad Hodge, based on Alexandra Bracken's young adult novel of the same name. The film stars Amandla Stenberg, Mandy Moore, and Gwendoline Christie, and follows a group of teenagers who are on the run from the government after mysteriously obtaining superpowers.  

The Spy Who Dumped Me is a 2018 American action comedy film directed by Susanna Fogel and co-written by Fogel and David Iserson. The film stars Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon, Justin Theroux, and Sam Heughan, and follows two friends who get chased through Europe by assassins after one of their ex-boyfriends turns out to be a CIA agent.

In Jump City, the Teen Titans arrive to stop the Balloon Man. However, when he cannot figure out who they are, the Teen Titans jump into a rap song to explain themselves and become distracted, forcing the Justice League to intervene. They criticize the Titans for being childish and not taking anything seriously and put up the fact that they do not have a movie of their own to prove their legitimacy.

It is a stand-alone sequel to the 2014 film "Unfriended," and follows a group of friends who find a laptop that has access to the dark web, only to realize they are being watched by the original owners.

Former FBI agent and amputee Will Sawyer (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) lives in the tallest and "safest" skyscraper in Hong Kong with his family. The film has all new meaning inside the Trump political era that lends to a level of realism that the previous films did not have.

After draining his life savings to enter a team in the Rucker Classic streetball tournament in Harlem, Dax (Lil Rel Howery) is dealt a series of unfortunate setbacks, including losing his team to his longtime rival (Nick Kroll). Desperate to win the tournament and the cash prize and impress his girlfriend (Tiffany Haddish), Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend Uncle Drew (Kyrie Irving) and convinces him to return to the court one more time. The two men embark on a road trip to round up Drew's old basketball squad comprised of actual NBA stars (Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, and Lisa Leslie) and prove that a group of septuagenarians can still win the big one.

The latest installment in the Jurassic Park franchise has arrived and it has the same issues that all the previous direct sequels to Jurassic Park had. The franchise ultimately only has two stories and the latter is bringing the dinosaurs to the mainland and they get loose thus wreaking havoc. 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' is no exception. Adding in the notion of the dinosaurs possibly experiencing a natural extinction level event on the island doesn't really help the story much as it plays more as a jumping off point than anything else. Where the story lives and breathes is in the fate of the dinos as they make it back to the mainland. Of course, things go predictively left and we are once again thrown into the same chase and kill story we can walk through with our eyes closed at this point. Since 1993, the franchise has had nothing more to say, and somehow the writers and directors behind these movies haven't heard that message as loud and as clear as it is coming through the screen.

The sequel to the wildly popular 2004 Incredibles picks up right where the previous film left off. The film continues to follow the superhero Parr family as they try and balance their seemingly normal lives alongside superheroism. This time the focus is on ElastiGirl as she leaves home to be in the spotlight while Mr. Incredible is forced to stay home and connect with the kids.

A remake of the 1972 blaxploitation film Super Fly, it stars Trevor Jackson, Jason Mitchell, Michael Kenneth Williams, Lex Scott Davis, and Jennifer Morrison, and follows a career criminal who tries to get out of the Atlanta drug scene, only to have one bad deal put him in harm's way.

Primatologist Davis Okoye (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), a man who is the head of an anti-poaching unit, finds out his beloved albino silverback gorilla friend George has been infected with a mysterious experiment that turns him into a giant, aggressive beast. To make matters worse, a grey wolf named Ralph and an American crocodile named Lizzie have been infected too. With the help of a discredited genetic engineer named Dr. Kate Caldwell (Naomie Harris), he must save George, stop Ralph and Lizzie from destroying most of America, and find out who mutated the animals.

In 2048, on an Earth overpopulated and ridden by violent conflicts, scientists are looking to Saturn's moon Titan as a new home for humanity, spearheaded by Professor Martin. Rick Janssen, a war pilot who survived for 3 days in the Syrian desert without food or water, is chosen to be a part of an experiment that forces humans to adapt to the surface of Titan, due to his past ability to survive in extreme conditions.

The film is set in the year 2045, when much of humanity, escaping the desolation of the real-world, uses the virtual reality software OASIS to engage in work and play. Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) discovers clues to a hidden game within the program that promises the winner full ownership of the OASIS, and joins several allies to try to complete the game before indentured players working for a large company, run by Nolan Sorrento (Mendelsohn), can do so.

Ten years after the Battle of the Breach, the oceans have become restless once again, but the Jaeger program has evolved into the next generation for the PPDC. However, a mysterious organization has reopened the Breach for the Kaiju and a Jaeger has gone rogue. Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, rises up to stand against the evolved Kaiju and the mysterious rogue Jaeger, Obsidian Fury, to prevent humanity's extinction and preserve his father’s legacy. John Boyega leads a team of new pilots alongside Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny to try and stop a new set of kaiju from reaching their final objective of destroying the Earth.

After the Defenders, we get to circle to the individual stories of the 4 titular heroes of the universe. Jessica Jones season 2 picks up back with our angry superpowered private detective and her quest to find out more about what or who gave her superpowers and why. This season focuses on not only Jessica's origins so to speak but also the origins of her friendship with Trish. This season also goes much further into showing Trish, Malcolm, and even Hogarth as a supporting worth truly caring about. 

Tomb Raider is a 2018 American action-adventure film directed by Roar Uthaug and written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons, from a story by Evan Daugherty and Robertson-Dworet. It is based on the 2013 video game of the same name, with some elements of its sequel by Crystal Dynamics, and is a reboot of the Tomb Raider film series. The film stars Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, in which she embarks on a perilous journey to her father's last-known destination, hoping to solve the mystery of his disappearance. Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Kristin Scott Thomas appear in supporting roles. When the heir to a family fortune is thrown into a series of events, she must head to an island that holds secrets of her father, her legacy, and possibly her future.

Movie Review: Gringo (2018) Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) is an average businessman who works for Cannabax Technologies Inc, a company that has developed the "Weed Pill", medical marijuana that has been simplified into a pill. Harold's bosses, Elaine Markinson (Charlize Theron) and Richard Rusk (Joel Edgerton), send him to Mexico to handle the manufacturing of the product, but while out partying he ends up getting kidnapped by the cartel, which holds a grudge against Harold's bosses and their company. Richard hires a professional named Mitch (Sharlto Copley) to safely get Harold out of harm's way, only for the two to end up having to survive one outrageous situation after another. The film is directed by Nash Edgerton and written by Anthony Tambakis and Matthew Stone. This is an Amazon Studios production.

After learning her astrophysicist father, Alex (Chris Pine), is being held captive on a distant planet deep in the grip of a universe-spanning evil, Meg Murry (Storm Reid) works with her highly intelligent younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), her new friend and fellow student Calvin O'Keefe (Levi Miller), and three astral travelers, Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling) to save him. The film based on the 1962 sci-fi novel by Madeleine L'Engle was directed by Ava DuVernay and written by Jennifer Lee.

In 1974, Charles Bronson took on the role of Paul Kersey, an innocent man who is set over the edge into a sea of violence when his wife and daughter are attacked. the film sparked a five-film long series. Now in 2018, director Eli Roth attempts to put his gorry stamp on his own version of the series. This time starring the aging action icon Bruce Willis who plays Kersey, this time re-imagined as a doctor. Kersey, after losing his wife to a home invasion, teaches himself how to shoot, and takes to the streets of Chicago to enact vigilante justice. Kersey delivers brutal justice to bad guys and the ones who wronged his family.

When a newly recruited Russian spy named Dominika Egorova (Jennifer Lawrence) is set to search for a mole but instead falls for a CIA officer (Joel Edgerton) the stakes become incredibly high in this cat and mouse spy thriller directed by Francis Lawrence.

Director Alex Garland takes another ambitious shot at the sci-fi genre with his latest film, Annihilation. The film follows Natalie Portman as a research biologist who's husband has been missing for over a year while he was on a covert military operation. His return thrusts her into a connected assignment. She alongside several other military research experts must explore an alien entity called The Shimmer. Once inside this entity they encounter various genetically altered species of animals and plant life. The Shimmer is far more than it seems to be and Portman and her team are forced to reflect on their bizarre findings as well as fight for survival.

Movie Review: What happens when you bring two competitive people together to make a married couple? What happens when that couple is forced into an unwittingly dangerous real-world kidnapping situation when they think its a game? "Game Night," asks these questions and with John Francis Daley in the director's chair, answers them in hilarious fashion. The film follows a group of friends who meet regularly for their game night, and one night they find themselves investigating an actual murder mystery. The film stars Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, Jesse Plemons, and Kyle Chandler.

Making his big onscreen debut in Captain America: Civil War, the character of Black Panther/T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) gets to finally step out on his own solo adventure. While the wait was long, it was more than worth it. Director Ryan Coogler manages to deliver Marvel's most diverse and unique adventure to date. Taking place in the fictional country of Wakanda, a hidden gem of Africa with technology that far surpasses the rest of the world, we see the coronation of the new king T'Challa. After watching his father be murdered in Captain America: Civil War, he must become the new leader of his people and learn to balance that with his superheroics and need to be a good man. T'Challa will be challenged not only at home by other tribes but also from enemies from afar, including the arms dealer Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) and a newcomer, Erik "Killmonger" Stevens (Michael B. Jordan) who's background is most complex than it appears. T'Challa does have the benefit of not having to fight alone. He is supported by his tech genius sister Shuri (Letitia Wright), head of his royal guard, the Dora Milage, Okoye (Danai Gurira), and his former lover and spy operative Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o).

The latest, and hopefully last, film in the Fifty Shades film series, "Fifty Shades Freed" has officially arrived. The film follows a newlywed couple of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele-Grey played by Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson respectively as they must deal with the sins of their past.

Den of Thieves is the latest action film from director Christian Gudegast starring Gerard Butler, Pablo Schreiber, 50 Cent, and O'Shea Jackson Jr. The film works as almost an exact retelling of Michael Mann's 1995 masterpiece, Heat. This time we get the more meathead version of that story but the outside framing is much the same. The movie pits a group of ex-military bank robbers who work with extreme accuracy against a group of major crimes officers who ride the line of legality. Den of Thieves may not be a cerebral film with amazing acting but for a somewhat mindless action film, it works. Worthwhile gunplay, elaborate schemes, and extreme bits of cat and mouse interplay, this very well might be the best film coming out during the film drought that is January, or at the very least the most entertaining.

Taking place in the middle of the Fox X-Men universe, The Gifted is a 13 episode season that explores the adventures of a family as they are thrust into the battle between humans and mutant-kind. When a brother and sister publicly display their mutant abilities by accident in high school they are immediately put on the run alongside their parents from the evil Sentinel Services, who are tasked to capture and contain dangerous mutants. The family eventually joins up with the Mutant Underground, a group of powerful mutants who are the fantasy version of the Underground Railroad from times of slavery in the United States. The show works on a "fetch quest" of the week premise and finds the family and the Mutant Underground heading from one position to another to garner some new knowledge or pick up some item to ease they lives on the run. With some cameos by mutants from a deep cut in Marvel's X-Men comic lore and a decent side story about the Mutant Underground members, the show rises to the level of mediocre TV but flounders just about everywhere else.

Liam Nesson is back in yet another action movie based on a type of conveyance. This time he finds himself on a daily commuter train being approached by a stranger to do the unthinkable for money. The former cop turned life insurance salesman must make a race against time to find out what his true mission is and save everyone on this train before things go "off the rails." - Pun very much intended.

Back before Iron Man was leading the Marvel Cinematic Universe to massive success, there was Brian K. Vaughn's Runaways. Originally planned to jumpstart the MCU the teen-focused series has finally made it to live-action. Telling the story of a group of high schoolers who happen upon their parents performing a secret ritual that leads them to discover their parents are actually villains. The teens come together to form their own odd Breakfast Club like "superhero" team. Comprised of the boy genius, tech inventor, telepathically dinosaur linked girl, a girl with massive strength, a magician, and a girl who has mysterious alien-like powers the teens aren't just forced to take on their parents but they are forced to get along with each other. Marvel's "Runaways" works best with its interaction between the kids and that is well mirrored with the parents interacting with their own group. Both teams are complex, well written and acted. Marvel's Runaways is yet another hit in the ever-growing MCU freight train. Directed by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the series has been renewed for a second season and expanded from 10 episodes to the standard Marvel 13.

Imagine if the Twilight Zone and Google had a baby, well that would be Black Mirror, and the Netflix exclusive show is back for its fourth twisted season. Covering topics from a Star Trek parody to an episode that everyone is describing as just too much. Black Mirror is a show about blurring the lines of fear, anxiety, and technology into a modern freak out. Micah and Terrence sit down and discuss their thoughts on each of the six presented episodes in this latest season. They stay as far away from spoilers as possible, but we encourage you to watch the show before checking out their review.

Amazon Studios gave a two-season order for their period comedy show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel starring Rachel Brosnahan and created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and they shouldn't stop there. The show follows Midge Maisel as a 1950s Jewish Upper Westside in NYC housewife who through some tragic circumstances in her marriage finds herself single and back living with her parents with two young children. Midge is bitten by the stand-up comedy bug when she drunkenly gets on stage at The Gaslight Cafe and performs an impromptu set. An employee at the cafe, Susie (Alex Borstein) sees potential in Midge and helps her hone her newfound passion. Midge's life isn't all roses as she has to navigate 1950 ideals (some she holds and some she fights), her parents in Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle who play Abe and Rose Weissman respectively, and her former life of privilege.

Director David Ayer's latest film, Bright, teams Will Smith and Joel Edgerton as two cops trying to survive in Los Angeles after finding a powerful artifact. The generic survival premise is flipped on its head when we are introduced to a world much like our own that is uniquely filled orcs, fairies, elves, and sometimes even dragons flying overhead in the distance. Joel Edgerton plays Nick Jakoby, the first Orc to serve as a police officer, and Will Smith plays his veteran partner, Daryl Ward, who is fresh off of medical leave after being injured on duty. When the two come across a magic wand they trigger a series of events that have the hunted by elves, the FBI, crooked cops, and gangsters. The film also makes an attempt (poorly) at using the Orcs as an allegory for race relations in this world.

The story of the so-called "Poker Princess" Molly Bloom has been put into the Aaron Sorkin slick fast dialogue machine and come out the other side looking good. Sorkin, in his directorial debut, turns actress Jessica Chastain into the former skier turned illegal poker gamer runner. Jumping between dishing her information to her reluctant lawyer, Charlie Jaffey, played by Idris Elba and the full backstory of how she rose from cocktail waitress to working with the Russian mob, Molly's Game is a good time. Sorkin brings his dialogue-heavy style to his first film and allows for us to see what a meteoric rise is like from the inside. With its violence, money, and glamour. Opening on Christmas Day, Molly's Game is not a groundbreaking story or film, but you will enjoy your time in the theater. A nice well-rounded film to end the year.

Guillermo del Toro's (Pan's Labyrinth) latest film that he both wrote and directed, The Shape of Water is a dark fantasy drama about a mute janitor that gets a job at a secret government laboratory. While working there she meets the "asset," an amphibious creature not unlike the classic monster movie "The Creature from the Black Lagoon." The janitor, Elisa (Sally Hawkins), and the asset (Doug Jones) fall in love, and upon learning the possible demise of her new love, Elisa fights to release the asset from the facility so they can be together.

Picking up where Episode VII left off, a newcomer to the Star Wars universe, Rian Johnson, takes the helm with Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi as both its writer and director. Produced by Lucasfilm, Episode VIII once again stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, with returning classic characters played by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. We find Rey (Ridley) working desperately to get Luke Skywalker (Hamill) to rejoin the Rebel Alliance in its last days, while Finn (Boyega) and Poe (Isaac) race against time to save the remaining fleet of the resistance. Looming questions are answered, new questions arise all the while putting Rey against her new sworn enemy in Kylo Ren (Driver).

Spike Lee revisits his famous drama/comedy 1986 film, She's Gotta Have It, but this time as a TV series that is updated for a new era and available as a Netflix Original Series. The general story is the same, but with needed tweaks to bring the series on Black polyamory into 2017. The series still follows Nola Darling, a "single" Black woman who has open sexual relationships with three men that are wildly different in personality. They reflect aspects of herself in archetypical ways. Whether the carefree/immature side, the stability of adulthood, or the worldly overachiever, the three men work as a vessel for Nola's best and worst qualities.

Movie Review: Roman J. Israel Esq. The legal drama starring Denzel Washington as Roman J. Israel Esq., a lawyer who has spent his career as the man behind the curtain so to speak. An eccentric legal savant, Israel must confront his hardline views of helping the poor and the disaffected when he is thrust into a world of money and power that he's only seen from a safe distance. When an opportunity for a different life comes into conflict with one's beliefs, this is where the character must decide if his lifelong held convictions are truly worth the sacrifices that he has made. Jon Bernthal returns to the role of Frank Castle aka The Punisher for his solo series. Marvel's Netflix shows have run the gamut of quality and I am happy to say that 'The Punisher' has now climbed to the top of my list. Taking on the story of a murdering sociopath anti-hero isn't an easy task but showrunner/executive producer Steve Lightfoot seemingly handled it with ease. The Punisher focuses on Frank Castle months after the events of Daredevil Season 2, in which he is believed to be dead. However, he works in the shadows taking down mobsters, violent thugs, etc until he comes across a bit of evidence that reopens some emotional wounds from his time doing spec ops work in Afghanistan. His spec ops work might just be the key to understanding what happened to his wife and kids, and perhaps tells us more about Frank Castle the man in the end. TV Review: Welcome back to Hawkins, Indiana for the second season of the Netflix runaway hit, Stranger Things. We find ourselves back with Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas as they are living their normal lives after the events of Will going missing, meeting Eleven, and their battle against the dreaded Demogorgon. Mindhunter is the latest Netflix original series based on the true crime book, 'Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Crime Unit' written by John E. Douglass and Mark Olshaker. The series depicts the FBI's slow growing serial killer unit in 1977. Surpassing the standard viewpoint on the criminal element of the past, FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) interview imprisoned serial killers to try and broaden their understanding of the psychology of these type of criminals, and to hopefully help stop future killers. The series works very much in the same vein as "Silence of the Lambs." One has to understand how a killer's mind works in order to stop a killer. Mindhunter is the first step in the FBI's now famous "profilers" group of agents.

Based on the famous 1934 Agatha Christie novel, Murder on the Orient Express attempts to tell a classic close quarters murder mystery with intriguing characters, setup, slowly revealed backstories and a sense of prolonged inquiry. Kenneth Branagh takes his hand at directing and starring in this remake. A powerhouse cast including Tom Bateman, Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer, and Daisy Ridley sets the stage for characters who stand out in a large sea of talent. "Third time's a charm" is the aptest phrase that can be used for Marvel's latest entry into its cinematic universe, Thor: Ragnarok. Returning once again to lead this voyage is Chris Hemsworth, who of the top three characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has had the roughest go at it in his solo adventures. However, with Taika Watiti in the director's chair, Thor: Ragnarok is not only the best Thor films but one of the best Marvel projects to date. The movie warns of a coming event, Ragnarok, or the end of all things for Asgard (the home realm of our hero). A series of events leads Thor to reunite with his mischievous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to find their father Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Odin warns them of a coming danger, Hela (Cate Blanchett) whose past is as mysterious as it is violent. She casts our heroes out of their homeworld and they are forced onto an unfamiliar planet that focuses on gladiatorial sports for entertainment above all else. There Thor rekindles his friendship with The Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and meets new allies Valkeryie (Tessa Thompson) and Korg (voiced by Taika Watiti). Together they work to escape their captors and take on Hela and reclaim Asgard. Budget: $180 Million

In 1922, a farmer conspires to murder his wife for financial gain, convincing his teenage son to participate. The film is based on the novella by horror writer, Stephen King. Wilfred James (Thomas Jane) is a grumpy farmer who refuses to give up his life living on the farm with his wife, Arlette (Molly Parker), and son, Henry (Dylan Schmid). His wife proposes that they sell their land and move into the city for a better, and frankly, less harsh life. However, Wilfred thinks city living is for "fools" and works his son to hatch a plot to kill Arlette to preserve his way of living. He succeeds in his plans but is haunted by the memories of his murdered wife via rats and visions of her. This is a Netflix Original film and is currently streaming on that service. The Babysitter is a 2017 American teen horror-comedy film directed by McG and written by Brian Duffield. The film stars Samara Weaving, Judah Lewis, Hana Mae Lee, Robbie Amell and Bella Thorne. It was released by Netflix on October 13, 2017. 12-year-old Cole (Judah Lewis) is the classic kid who suffers from bullying in school, but his one solace is his beautiful babysitter that he has fallen head over heels for. When she stays at home with him one night he decides to spy on her and see what she is up to after he is supposedly asleep. Turns out, this dreamy perfect girl, Bee (Samara Weaving), is a part of a demonic cult!!! He sees her and her friends murder another kid without remorse. That's when this horror/comedy, The Babysitter, really gets started. Jay and Terrence sit down to discuss the newly released crime thriller, The Snowman. Based on the novel written by Jo Nesbø, the film follows a drunkard detective named Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender) as he tries to figure out why women are ending up dead in Oslo, Norway by someone who goes by the name the Snowman killer. Leaving small clues and snowmen in the wake of his murders, Hole races to put the pieces together to find the killer. Working with the gorgeous backdrop of Norway, the film tries desperately to convey a sense of Scandinavian emptiness in the same vein of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series. However, due to rush production and poor translation of the source material, it seems to fail in every regard. Jay and Brad sit down to review the 30+ years in the making sequel, ‘Blade Runner 2049.’ Starring Ryan Gosling as K, a Blade Runner who is tasked to “retire” old replicants is suddenly thrown into a new case that might just destroy the fabric of the modern society. Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario), the film works to expand the story and world of the original 1982 ‘Blade Runner’ but also forge its own ground. Villeneuve is able to recapture the feel of the original film but modernizes it to fit his own lush aesthetics. Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, Gerald’s Game is a film that plays more like a survival drama than a classic King horror story. When Jessie and Gerald Burlingame leave the city to go to a remote cabin to rekindle their problematic marriage things go a bit off the rails. Gerald (Bruce Greenwood) decides that the way to put the spark back into their marriage is to try having sex while using handcuffs to restrain Jessie (Carla Gugino). Bruce, unfortunately, has a heart attack and dies leaving Jessie restrained and no access to call for help. The film really gets moving the second Jessie is pushed into this race against time scenario for her life. Struggling to deal with the realities of her newfound situation, while balancing her thoughts of what put her there make for a suspenseful ride. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is the follow-up to the wildly popular Kingsman: The Secret Service directed and co-written once again by Matthew Vaughn. The Kingsman universe lives somewhere between James Bond and Austin Powers, with a bit of almost superhero level action sprinkled in for good measure. Starring Taron Egerton once again as the young charismatic spy Eggsy. Egerton is joined by Colin Firth, Mark Strong, and Sophie Cookson all reprising their roles from Kingsman: The Secret Service. They are joined by the Statesman, the American version of the Kingsman, lead by Jeff Bridges, Pedro Pascal, Halle Berry, and Channing Tatum. The two teams have to come together to take on Julianne Moore who plays Poppy Adams, the head of an organization called “The Golden Circle.” Taking the best of what worked in the first film, and cranking them up while leaning heavily into the world that director Matthew Vaughn has created (based on the comic “Secret Service” by Mark Millar) makes for one of the more fun films this year. American Assassin tells the tale of a young man, Mitch Rapp, who through no fault of his own is wrapped up in the violence of a terrorist cell while on vacation. 18 months later, Mitch is training physically and mentally to enact his revenge on those responsible. PREMISE:  Mitch Rapp (O'Brien), 23, lost his parents in a tragic car accident at the age of 14, as well as his girlfriend to a terrorist attack just as they were engaged. This time the tale is better weaved in this version made for the silver screen. Based on the 1986 supernatural horror book, "It" takes place in 1988 where a group of friends called "The Losers" have to come face to face with a murderous clown, known only as Pennywise, that's not quite what he seems to be. Jay and Demetrius sit down to discuss the newly released (in IMAX) 2 episode premiere of Marvel's "Inhumans." Telling the story of a royal family of aliens who reside in a hidden city on the moon, who work to keep themselves hidden from inhabitants of Earth. The show focuses on a breakdown in that royal family that involves a coup d'etat headed up by the king's own jealous brother. The rest of the royal family is forced to escape to the planet Earth, but their troubles are only just beginning. They must figure out their new home while fighting to regain the rightful place back in Attilan on the moon. The premiere episodes lay the ground work for a season that may have some potential, but that's merely speculative at this point. The footage shown in theaters was rather underwhelming but better than early buzz indicated. This episode of Coming Distractions is focused on Amazon's newest show "The Tick," based on the popular spoof comic series, as well as, the popular 1990s cartoon that was on Fox. The Tick tells the tale of a New York based superhero by the same name who's eccentric nature runs head on with Arthur, a mild mannered accountant, who gets caught up in the superhero antics sort of by accident. The Tick and Arthur team up to take down goofball villains such as Ms. Lint and Ramses IV all the while on the hunt for The Terror. The series pokes fun at the superhero genre while also never taking itself particularly serious. If you are a fan of the original comic series, the 90s cartoon, or the superhero genre this series might be a perfect treat when your beloved genre gets a bit too self-important. Carrie joins Jay to discuss the recent Netflix exclusive film, #DeathNote. The story follows Light Turner (Nat Wolff), a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook that has the power to kill whoever has their name written within. He soon partners with the true owner of the notebook, a shinigami named #Ryuk (Willem Dafoe), and begins to enact justice on the world under the guise of "Kira." Light must contend with the brilliant detective known only as L (Lakeith Stanfield), who seeks to expose Light as Kira. Based on the 2003 manga of the same name, Netflix's Death Note provides a wildly different look at the base story underneath. But is it a good enough film to watch? Budget: $40 Million

In 2015, Marvel and Netflix started us down this path with the first season of Daredevil starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. From there we've had series focusing on Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Coulter), and most recently Iron Fist (Finn Jones). These shows have now finally brought together 4 unlikely personalities to team up Avengers style to take on a larger threat. The show is a departure from the four solo series by only being 8 episodes instead of their standard 13. This allows for the telling of a slightly tighter story but also puts some constraints on what the show can do in such a limited time frame. The team takes on a woman named Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver) who controls the evil organization, The Hand. She along with Elektra (Elodie Yung) aka The Black Sky work to further goals while trying to destroy New York City in the process. There are things that worked incredibly well in the series, such as Luke and Danny's budding friendship, but the series is also plagued by rushed writing and lack of quality action beats for certain characters. A valiant effort from Marvel Television, but improvements can be and should be made going forward. Jay and Micah sit down to discuss season 1 of Netflix's latest original series, Friends from College. Starring Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Fred Savage, Nat Faxon, Annie Parisse, Jae Suh Park, and Billy Eichner. The show follows seven friends who went to Harvard together that are in their late 30s/early 40s reuniting as their paths cross in New York City. Old relationships rekindle, while others have never died. A mixture of "comedies of life" moments well balanced with serious issues of leaving your late breaking adult adolescence for the eventual slide into what should be your calming 40s. The show features characters who are all incredibly terrible and selfish people but have endearing qualities once you dig into the meat of what they represent. There are issues of infidelity, career changes, gaining maturity, relationship prioritizing, trying to have kids (IVF), and balancing all of that on top of the drudges of life. This week on Coming Distractions, Jay and Carrie sit down to discuss the newly release action-comedy, Hitman's Bodyguard, starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. When the first trailer for The Hitman’s Bodyguard debuted, people at first seemed to take it as a joke (largely due to the usage of “I Will Always Love You”) only to realize that, no, this was a real movie about to release in 2017. Starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson, the film manages to be an entertaining two-hour romp despite not doing anything really new or particularly memorable for the action film genre. The story follows a freelance special protection agent, Michael Bryce (Reynolds), who experiences a fall from grace after one of his high-profile clients is killed off. Years later, Bryce is brought in to help covertly escort a notorious contract killer, Darius Kincaid (Jackson), across Europe so that he can testify at the International Court of Justice against Vladislav Dukhovich (Gary Oldman), the brutal dictator of Belarus. Kincaid was originally to be escorted by a group of Interpol agents, but a mole within Interpol gave away his location, leading to Bryce and Kincaid being pursued by Dukhovich’s team of mercenaries throughout the film.  

This week on Coming Distractions, Jay and Micah sit down and discuss the first major Hollywood film by the Safdie Brothers entitled, "Good Time." Following two brothers Connie (Robert Pattison) and Nick Nikas (Ben Safdie) who rob a bank and head out into an adventure that sees Connie trying desperately to bail his special needs brother out of jail before something goes terribly wrong. An acid trip crime-drama set to an 80s inspired synthwave style soundtrack makes for another great addition to the A24 indie filmhouse catalog.

This week Jay and Micah sit down to discuss the latest film from Oscar Award winning actress, Halle Berry, as a mother fighting desperately to save her son in "Kidnap." The plot is extremely simple and yet the film manages to miss the mark at almost every turn. Utilizing 6 film production companies and making a film that is almost identical to her last major outing, Kidnap is a unique example of a throwaway project from beginning to end. Kathryn Bigelow's latest film dives deeply into the Algiers Motel incident during the 1967 Detroit riots. Dealing with police brutality and its constant march against innocent Black Americans and the outcome that comes along with it are the central themes of this film. Taking her knowledge of war filming, Bigelow is able to craft a film that focuses on the characters far more than the situation and brings the violence and racism leveled against them to the forefront with expert skill. Breakout performances from Algee Smith, John Boyega, and Will Poulter help to show the gravity of choices on the perpetrators and their victims. PREMISE: A police raid in Detroit in 1967 results in a days long riot. The story is centered on the Algiers Motel incident, which occurred in Detroit, Michigan on July 25, 1967, during the racially charged 12th Street Riot. It involves the death of three black men and the beatings of nine other people: seven black men and two white women. Girl's Trip tells the story of four lifelong friends on a long-overdue weekend getaway trip to New Orleans for the annual Essence Music Festival. Their sisterhood is rekindled and wild sides are rediscovered, with nights of partying, hook-ups and bad decisions, as well as raw and vulnerable moments that strengthen their bond. Directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man) and written by Kenya Barris (Black-ish), Girl's Trip takes the simple road tripping movie idea but adds great comedic flair and raunchiness that women rarely get in films aimed at their demographic. #GirlsTrip manages to balance comedy and sincerity and is a great time all around. Director Christopher Nolan’s latest film, Dunkirk, retells the story of the famous evacuation from Dunkirk, France by Allied forces using the help of civilians from England at the early point of WW2. Starring Fionn Whitehead, Cillian Murphy, and Tom Hardy the film works to give three perspectives (Land, Sea, and Air) of the battlefront. With less concentration on heroic speeches or large scale nearly unwatchable violence, the film creates suspense and fear through amazing sound editing an absolutely wonderful score. The Big Sick is the 2017 romantic comedy, directed by Michael Showalter and starring Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan. Kumail plays himself in this autobiographical retelling of his relationship with his now wife, Emily Gordon (who co-wrote the film with Nanjiani). The film deals with issues of familial expectations, cultural clashes, and what it's like to be a foreign born but American raised person working between two very strong worlds. When Kumail and Emily's relationship falters early on, the two are brought back together when Emily becomes deeply ill and falls into a coma. Kumail must learn to challenge the life his parents have set for him as well as connect with Emily's parents to prove he's not the guy they think he is.

#MovieReview: Spider-Man: Homecoming After two reboots, and film live action films, Spider-Man has finally made his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Played this time around by newcomer Tom Holland, Marvel Studios in a joint venture with Sony Pictures brings us a new #Spiderman solo adventure. Taking place just after the events of Captain America: Civil War, the 15 year old Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man finds himself trying to desperately prove to Tony Stark/Iron Man that he is worthy to be an Avenger alongside the other heroes. When a new villain known as the Vulture (Michael Keaton) arises and is stealing high end tech from around NYC and using it for nefarious means Spider-man sets off to stop him and prove his worth. The film does a wonderful job of balancing time between the super heroics and his normal high school life. Tom Holland manages to bring laugh out loud moments to the hilarious character who is constantly trying to figure this whole superhero thing out. Director Jon Watts shows us just what a John Hughes movie would feel like in the modern age of superheroes. Director Edgar Wright goes full on style over substance in his latest getaway driver centered film, Baby Driver. Centered around Baby (Ansel Elgort), a wheelman for Doc (Kevin Spacey) who is a criminal kingpin of sorts. Working to pay off a debt to Doc, Baby works with some shady characters and looks good while doing it. A film that is driven by its soundtrack and audio design is a unique entry into the Edgar Wright's collection of films. While the style is a large part of the premise here, does Wright and the cast deliver a solid story that leads you wanting more? Check out the review to find out. Movie Review of #WarForThePlanetOfTheApes Director Matt Reeves returns to the Apes franchise, with War for the Planet of the Apes, to fully explore the war that has been brewing since the franchise's beginning in Rise of the Planet of the Apes in 2011. The film decides to take the series into a deeper character driven direction than even the previous films and works to show Caeser as a fully realized character underneath all the excellent CGI and MoCap work by actor, Andy Serkis. PREMISE: Two years after the events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Caesar, and his apes have been embroiled in a war against humans. As the ape population decreases, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts in order to avenge his fallen companions. The encounter with the apes and humans puts them into the ultimate confrontation, to determine the fate of the Earth. Caesar is pitted against a rogue colonel played excellently by Woody Harrelson who's number one goal is to rid the Earth of these intelligent apes and secure humanity's place at the top of the food chain no matter what. Dealing with issues of humanity, character introspection, violence, subjugation, ends justifying the means, and other topics, War for the Planet of the Apes isn't just a run of the mill summer blockbuster but rather something altogether special. Selma Hayek and John Lithgow star as representatives of opposing views in the ongoing grand debates of American society: rich/poor, immigrant/native born, man/woman, minority/white, liberal/conservative, and so on in the 2017 Miguel Arteta-directed film, 'Beatriz at Dinner.' #BeatrizAtDinner tells the story of when massage therapist #Beatriz (#SalmaHayek) attends the dinner party of her wealthy clients Kathy (#ConnieBritton) and Grant (#DavidWarshofsky) after her car breaks down at their house. During the party, Beatriz finds out that Kathy and Grant's wealthy colleagues are involved in business practices that she finds repellent. In particular, she suspects that she has a past connection with Doug Strutt (#JohnLithgow), whose business has come under fire from environmental groups. As the night progresses, tensions escalate between Beatriz and Doug as the two butt heads over their opposing philosophies. Does the film deliver on its promise of being the first true film to deal with Americans ideological splinters in the age of Donald Trump? Director #ColinTrevorrow decides to take a short break from large budget films like Jurassic World to delve into his newest indie film project, The Book of Henry. Starring Naomi Watts, Jaeden Lieberher, and Jacob Tremblay as a single mother and her two young sons. #JaedenLieberher plays Henry, an 11-year-old boy genius who has a hyper focus on the ideas of good and evil, and what his legacy should be to his family. His mother Susan (#NaomiWatts) is a woman who has disempowered herself to allow Henry to become this guiding male figure in their lives. When Henry suspects that there is something strange happening to the girl next door, he decides to create a plan and he pulls his mother in for the task. The film delves into the ideas of parentification of children, and that impact on what it does to both the child and parents. Issues of role reversals and maturity are peppered throughout #TheBookOfHenry. PREMISE: In a small suburban town, a precocious 11-year-old boy, named Henry Carpenter, and his younger brother, Peter, are being raised by their single mother, Susan, who works as a waitress. Henry has a crush on their next-door neighbor Christina Sickleman, a girl around his age, who is the stepdaughter of the police commissioner. To protect Christina from harm at the hands of her abusive stepfather, Glenn, Henry comes up with a plan to rescue her that he writes in a book. Henry's mother discovers the book and decides that she and Peter will put Henry's scheme into motion. Every cinematic universe begins somewhere, and Universal's #DarkUniverse begins with Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella's, The Mummy. The adventures begin in ancient Egypt, Princess Ahmanet is first in line to replace her father Menehptre only to be replaced when his new wife gives birth to a son. Determined to usurp the throne, Ahmanet sells her soul to the the god Set, who promises to make her Queen in exchange for gaining a corporeal form. After killing her family, Ahmanet prepares to sacrifice her lover only to be captured and condemned to be buried alive with flesh-eating scarabs. Fast forward to the modern day with Nick Morton (#TomCruise) finds Ahmanet's tomb and mistakenly releases her upon the world. The Mummy is more action than horror and works to set up the budding Universal #DarkUniverse.  

Director #PattyJenkins has taken on the herculean task of directing the first large-scale female-led comic book movie, #WonderWoman. Starring relative newcomer #GalGadot (Batman v. Superman) as the titular character of Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Wonder Woman works to tell the story of young woman who is plucked from her safe life on a secret island and thrust into the atrocities of World War I. However, the obvious twist is that she isn't just some woman, she's the daughter of the Amazons who possess more power than even she realizes. DC/WB has had hit a couple of rough patches launching their cinematic universe, aka #DCEU. However, in Wonder Woman they have found their footing. Utilizing true emotion, heart, action, and properly placed comedy finally brings DC/WB a movie that they can say critically, and likely financially, rivals the competition. Gal Gadot impresses with her ability to play the "fish out of water" warrior princess alongside #ChrisPine as Steve Trevor, a WWI soldier who recruits her to save the world. The story is large enough to show scale in the universe, yet personal enough to be emotionally well balanced and solid.

Director #RidleyScott returns once again to his beloved #Alien franchise to go further in depth with the franchise's lore. After a mixed reception to his Alien prequel, #Promethus, Scott goes back to the prequel well to once again try and recapture the magic of the original films. Does he pull it off? PREMISE: "In 2104, the crew of the colony ship Covenant is bound for a remote planet, Origae-6, with some 2,000 colonists and over 1,400 embryos on-board, monitored by Walter, a more advanced android resembling the earlier David. A neutrino shockwave damages the ship and waking the crew from stasis. While repairing the damage, they intercept a human radio transmission from a seemingly lifeless nearby planet. Against the objection of Daniels (Katherine Waterston), the ship's terraforming expert and acting executive officer, Captain Christopher Oram (Billy Crudup) decide to investigate."

Movie Review of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Director #GuyRitchie works to put his unique spin on the classic telling of the #KingArthur story in this modern-ish remake. Starring #CharlieHunnam as Arthur, a young man raised in a brothel not quite knowing his true lineage. Meanwhile, Arthur's uncle, played by #JudeLaw, works to consolidate his power and find and kill #Arthur so that he can wield the famous #Excalibur. There are no SPOILERS in this review. We discuss the film's premise, actors successes/failures, overall thoughts on the film, what we liked, disliked, and more. #Marvel's favorite group of cosmic outlaws and misfits are back in their sequel adventure. Bringing back the team of #StarLord (Chris Pratt), #Gamora (Zoe Saldana), #RocketRaccoon (Bradley Cooper), #BabyGroot (Vin Diesel), #Drax (Dave Bautista), #Nebula (Karen Gillian), #Yondu (Michael Rooker) to take on a new enemy and deal with the issues of newly arriving characters: #Ego (Kurt Russell) and #Mantis (Pom Klementieff). The movie works to establish the family aspects of the Guardians and what that truly means in the larger sense. Action, comedy and just plain old fun are back under the watchful eye of returning writer/director #JamesGunn. Does Marvel hit another out of the park, or does the sophomore project disappoint?
