On the week's episode, Kyle and Chris discuss how the Manchester City skipper got into football and his early career, which took him from Sheffield United through the lower league loan system. The pair start on the Lansdowne Estate in Sheffield where they discuss the earliest games Kyle played in the playgrounds with his friends, before attending sessions for Football Unites, Racism Divides and being recommended to The Blades by one of the coaches. They then talk about the early days at Bramall Lane, cleaning the boots of the senior players, and what it was like for a lifelong fan of the club to sign professional forms. The pair finish by talking about how his first season as a professional ended up at Wembley in the Playoff Final and the pain of losing 1-0 to Burnley, and whether now, in the autumn of his career, he would consider ending his career back where it all started, at Bramall Lane.

Footballer's Football: What’s Going Wrong at Manchester United?

Callum decided to show up to the podcast this week, and his timing was immaculate after scoring his side’s winner at the weekend. But should he have had another goal? He had to wait a long time before he could take his penalty against Brentford. So he lets us in on his secret formula for pen success. Footballer's Football: Has the Maguire criticism gone too far?

Callum was away on England duty, so couldn’t make this week’s pod. But don’t worry, Michail brought enough energy for two. With the Hammers making a near perfect start to the season, Rickie asks if a top four charge is realistic. How high can they finish? West Ham’s last win came as they became the first Premier League team to visit Kenilworth Road. So what was that like? The atmosphere was a little frosty, apparently. Have fans taken it too far, though? Harry Maguire has been at the end of an unfair amount of stick. Michail gives his take. Plus, he lends his support to Richarlison for his public decision to seek psychological help. Mo Salah’s Liverpool future looked in doubt towards the end of the summer transfer window, but for the time being he’s staying put on Merseyside. But Michail thinks the move to Saudi Arabia is inevitable, and a dream one for the Egyptian. What is it about the Saudi Pro League that is so alluring to footballers? Is it just the money, or is there more at stake? Time for some honesty. There were some brilliant questions in this week’s Footballers (Michail) Unfiltered. Mikey discusses how to stay positive despite self-doubt in football, what it has been like playing for the Jamaican national team and whether he would ever consider a move to the MLS. And personally, did Michail change his approach at all? The Antonio love-in continued as he made the Fantasy Premier League team of the week. But do the boys think about how many points they are earning for players who pick them? And do they play the game themselves? Lucas Paqueta was heavily involved in the game at the weekend, scoring the winning penalty and playing a blinder after a difficult week off the pitch. Did any of the noise affect him going into the match? Caicedo had a bit of a horror show on his debut against the Hammers, but how hard is it to come into the side as the British record signing? Away from the London Stadium, Newcastle came out as unlucky losers against Man City. Was it simply a case of a brilliant goal against the best side in the league? Did the Boys Get Their Premier League Predictions Right?

Newcastle WILL be playing in the Champions League next season! What an achievement. And West Ham have one more game to secure European football for a third season on the trot. And what a game! Michail previews the Europa Conference League Final in Prague on the 7th of June. It’s the end of the season and there’s no better time to analyse the boys’ predictions from August last year. How accurate were they? Well… not very. Plus they look back on their respective goals they set and whether those goals were achieved. It’s awards time and no award is more coveted than the annual FFPs. So who was the best player of the season? Best manager? Biggest surprise? Best signing? And who scored the goal of the season? Rickie’s also dishing some podcast specific awards out. Who was the least punctual? The best dressed? And who won the now famous goal scoring bet? Finally, there’s just about time to look forward to the summer holidays. Where are the boys going and will Michail be cooking some food for Callum at some point? Will Pochettino succeed at Chelsea?

The season’s nearly over, but there’s still loads to play for. Callum’s Newcastle side are yet to fully secure a Champion’s League spot after dropping points at Leeds. And Michail’s West Ham have a European Cup Final place to fight for. There’s also the big issue of what Michail will be cooking for the end of season meal. Callum scored a brace from 12 yards at Elland Road, but how does he block out the noise coming from opposition players and fans? There was a bit of controversy on the sidelines in that game, too, as a Leeds fan entered the field of play and confronted Eddie Howe. What did the boys make of that and what do they think should be done to prevent future repeats of such events? The boys break down the Hammers’ 2-1 win against AZ Alkmaar, but a little birdie told Callum that Michail was getting bullied by their defender. Was that really the case? The title race looks to be all but over with Arsenal’s loss at home to Brighton. With the lead they held earlier in the season, will this be the biggest bottle job in Premier League history? And Pochettino is going to Chelsea… Michail didn’t see it coming, but could it be a masterstroke? Callum thinks Kane could be following. In Footballers Unfiltered this week we have questions about the boys’ favourite assists and Michail’s muted celebrations. Plus they judge a screamer from the halfway line in the Strikers’ Union. Is Gündoğan too old for Man City?

Last week Callum was all smiles, this week it’s Michail’s turn! West Ham look to have secured safety with a brilliant win against Manchester United, but what did the boys make of David de Gea’s howler? Howler or not, Michail feels they deserved victory and should have had at least a penalty too. The focus now turns to Europe with a HUGE semi-final on Thursday. Callum on the other hand is grumpy. Newcastle lost to the title challengers Arsenal in a tight and feisty game. Does it show how far Newcastle have come that they went toe to toe with the Gunners? Or is it a reminder they have some improvement to do yet? Competition throughout the league is as exciting (and uncertain) as ever. And the boys are reluctant to make predictions for fear of jinxing themselves. There’s ample time to discuss Manchester City’s remarkable season. One thing from their game at the weekend got the boys talking, however - should the penalty taker ever hand over responsibility to help a team-mate secure a hat-trick? Plus, with rumours circulating that Gündoğan may be too old for a new contract at City, the boys ask whether age just a number. In Footballers Unfiltered this week the boys answer questions about transfer gossip and how the game has changed over the years. And with the play-offs getting underway, they judge a brilliant volley from the Thurlow Nunn First Division North Play-Off Final. Have a question or a nomination for the boys? While we’re recording, Leicester and Everton play out a thrilling draw to ease the tension just a bit. Also, Michail has an interesting revelation as he explains how he tried to get Eberechi Eze a yellow card, after his opponent took his shirt off during a break in play. Surely within the rules, the referee should have produced a yellow card? Well, Michail thinks so and even pointed out the incident to the officials in the hope of gaining an advantage. In happier news, Michail got a goal on the board and Rickie welcomed a new kid to the FFP family. The boys discuss the effect of a new family and late night nappy changes on their playing careers. There was a lot of talk last week about time wasting in the Liverpool v Newcastle game. Was it really time wasting? Are the fans getting value for money? Callum has some strong views on the topic. Plus the boys discuss goal line misses in light of Che Adams howler. Michail and Callum are asked how important shirt numbers are in the weekly segment, ‘Footballers Unfiltered’. Did the boys insist on getting no.9 and what if they moved to a club where it was taken? Have something you want to ask Michail, Callum or Rickie? Email us at [email protected]. How Do You Get Your Dream Transfer?

West Ham finally got some points on the board at the weekend, with a win at Villa. Whilst Callum had to sit out Newcastle's draw away to Wolves, with an injury. He updates Michail and Rickie on his situation and the outlook for the weeks to come. Callum’s old club had an even tougher weekend than him. The boys discuss Liverpool’s frankly ludicrous 9-0 drubbing of Bournemouth and what to do when you find yourself in that position. Willy Boly caused a storm this week as he failed to turn up to his side’s game against Newcastle, apparently in a push to move away from the club. Michail and Callum talk about the laughable things fellow teammates have done to get their desired move. And what have the boys done themselves? With the transfer deadline looming, the boys talk about what it’s like from inside their clubs at the moment and what the window does to team dynamics. Richarlison’s showboating antics at the weekend get the boys animated. Plus, Michail and Callum are asked to pick their combined Newcastle-West Ham 5-a-side team in the weekly segment, ‘Footballers Unfiltered’. Have something you want to ask Michail, Callum or Rickie? Do The Stats Lie?

Newcastle and West Ham had contrasting weekends: Callum took a healthy lead in the goalscoring bet with a commanding performance against City, while Michail was left frustrated at home to Brighton. With the Hammers yet to register a point on the board, the boys discuss how to get going after a slow start. And with Callum making an impressive goalscoring start to the season, Michail gives him some celebration advice. Bruno Guimarães was quick to grab Haaland’s shirt at the weekend, so the boys talk about their views on swapping shirts and whose they'd most like to hang on their bedroom wall. Football statistics are seemingly playing an increasingly important role in coverage of the game, so Michail and Callum talk about what stats mean from the players perspective. And the boys are asked about any career regrets and which England strikers should make the England squad for the World Cup in our regular ‘Footballers Unfiltered’ section. Did The Referee Get it Wrong?

Both Callum and Michail were left frustrated by disallowed goals at the weekend. So who better to come and assess their grievances than former Premier League and FIFA referee, Mark Clattenburg. And it wasn’t just West Ham and Newcastle that had refereeing controversies. The boys, along with Mark, discuss the hectic Chelsea v Tottenham game, which is being dubbed the ‘Battle of the Bridge 2.0’. Mark, who refereed the original ‘Battle of the Bridge’, offers his thoughts on VAR, where he sees it going in the future and Cristian Romero's now infamous hair pull. It wouldn’t be a complete episode without a discussion about Man United’s ongoing woes. And the boys talk about what reality tv show they’d like to appear on after their playing careers come to an end. Have something you want to ask Michail, Callum or Rickie? How good is Haaland?

The first game of the season provided mixed fortunes for the boys. Michail came up against a top drawer Man City, whilst Callum Wilson scored his first goal of the campaign with a deft touch. How good, really, is Erling Haaland? Michail gives his thoughts on a performance that everybody seems to be talking about. Is 40 goals in his first season achievable? Callum takes an early advantage in the goalscoring bet, but was his goal lucky, or did he mean it? The boys give their thoughts on the hotly debated topic of taking the knee and a few new additions to the premier league, including half time interviews, raise eyebrows. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future up in the air, Callum and Michail reflect on what it’s like to have players in the dressing room who are trying to push for a move.
