Periods & Poops: How The Menstrual Cycle Affects The Digestive System

It’s fair to say that the subject of poop, and especially girls and women and pooping, is a little taboo.I don’t know about you, but this topic was extremely embarrassing for me to talk about for a very long time. As a teenager living in gut health hell, I was too embarrassed to use the bathroom at school and instead tried to suffer through it until I got home. No way would I risk someone being in the stall next to me hearing what was happening! On top of the social issues, keeping poops as a don’t ask-don’t tell topic meant I had no idea that my digestive issues were linked to all my hormonal woes. Here’s the thing - we have to talk about this stuff because just like periods, our digestive health tells us a lot about our bodies but we won’t know when something is wrong if we don’t even know what is normal, to begin with. Let’s push through the discomfort and start talking. To learn more visit https://nicolejardim.com/podcasts/periods-poops-how-the-menstrual-cycle-affects-the-digestive-system.Podcast Production Support: Amazing Gains

218: Why Hormone Testing is a Very Important Tool for Monitoring Your Health

Between writing Fix Your Period, putting it out into the world, moving twice, and months spent as a nomad after the pandemic nixed our plans to move back to NYC in March of 2020, the past couple of years have been immensely stressful for me. I feel like I’m only now emerging from the burnout of this past year. In the midst of all that, I hadn’t been to see an OBGYN for almost three years and after doing some test kits with Let’s Get Checked, the results showed that my FSH and LH were high. Cue panic! In the hopes of getting further hormone testing, I did the homework I’d been putting off and found a midwife nearby with good reviews. Unfortunately, the visit did not go as I’d hoped. In this episode, we talk about the impact of stress on your hormones, why I was concerned about my hormone levels, how to find a practitioner you can trust, the shocking conversation I had with a midwife about hormone testing, why self-advocacy is crucial, and so much more!   To learn more about hormone testing, visit https://nicolejardim.com/podcasts/why-hormone-testing-is-a-very-important-tool-for-monitoring-your-health.

PP# 174: Periods & Poops: How the Menstrual Cycle Affects the Digestive System with Nicole Jardim

It’s fair to say that the subject of poop, and especially girls and women and pooping, is a little taboo. I don’t know about you, but this topic was extremely embarrassing for me to talk about for a very long time. The inspiration for this series is my first book, Fix Your Period, which arrived in the world on April 28th and is available now (with some incredible bonuses worth over $500!). During this time, I want to share super valuable information with you that is like a sneak peek into all the goodness in my book.   To learn more about Nicole's book, visit the show notes.
