Jando Tribute Part 2 – Draft Analysis

In our second "lost" episode, Alex, Scott and Alejandro discuss the 2024 draft. Jando does some of his best analysis around the draft and it really shows here. Alex gets a little salty over Chop Robinson and our disagreements are all in fun. You'll hear Jando's sarcasm come out in response to his dad. It's such a joy to hear his voice one more time, and remember everything about the person behind it. I hope you listen and get some of that from it too.

Jando Tribute – Free Agency 2024

This episode is part 1 of the publication of 2 lost episodes. It covers the Dolphins Free agency moves of 2024. It's an important listen, even now, months later. It is a tribute to Alejandro "Jando" Saenz, who we lost in August. Alex and Scott plan to continue the podcast this year, but are navigating the loss of his son, our friend and podcast partner, and are delayed from our usual cadence. Please listen to this episode and share it with others. - Scott

State of the Dolphins Nation 03-2024

It's early March and the Dolphins are still the second worst over the cap team. There's a lot of tap dancing to be done with money, players, and contracts in the next few days. Scott and Alex talk about Tyreek Hill and his "shenanigans". We differ on what should be done, if anything. We review Chris Grier's drafts and rate them. We aren't ready to share what we want in terms of players at picks yet, but we have an overall philosophy which rarely aligns with the Dolphins GM. Are the Dolphins in trouble? Listen in and find out.

Culture, HC, and DC

So much for the usual end of season hiatus. Alex has been harping all week to start season seven with a podcast about culture, Fangio's exit, and who he wants as the new DC. So, we are back! This episode was recording during lunchtime on Friday, and news is coming fast around current issues, so don't wait to jump in to this one.

S6 Finale: We had the answers

Welcome to the final episode of Two Old Dolfans Season 6. Thank you for listening this year! We had the answers for success and identified the issues we saw with the team early. If you listened, you know what they are, and saw them come to fruition. This conversation is NOT "we had it first" but rather, an aggregation of what went right, what went wrong, who is responsible for fixing the problems, and what we suggest the solutions are. We talk a lot about McDaniel. We talks about Grier. We talk about other coaches. We talk about the cap. We talk about Players we'd like to see back, restructured, or gone. We talk about positions of need and what the Dolphins should do with their first picks. Listen in for the full scoop.

Run the Damned Ball

Our Dolphins fell short in the AFC East "championship game" with the Bills on the final game of the regular season, at home, in front of a half-hostile crowd. This podcast goes deep into what happened and suggests who owns the blame for the loss, if you want to cast aspersions. It might not be who you think it is. It's a long episode, but full of thought and passion. Injuries? Of course, but... Scott and Alex ague about a few things, including opinions about our HC. Now that the Dolphins have crapped away a 3 game lead in the east, they have to go to Kansas City for a wild card game. Do they have a chance?  Scott has a fun pick for this week's MVP. Both have a very strongly worded message for the NFL. This is a clean episode up until the last minute. If you are sensitive to foul language, the fist hour is good, and the last minute is laced with an explicative, matching McDaniel's frequent verbiage, you might say, but not at him.

Bird Poop and a Chance to be Champions

The Miami Dolphins defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve in a nailbiter on the foot of Jason Sanders. Then, the Dolphins travelled to Baltimore on New Years Eve. To say it wasn't pretty would be an understatement. Before Dolfan Nation throws the baby out with the bathwater, consider all the national narratives... swallow them like new years eve hors d'oeuvres and crap them out the next day along with a bit of a hangover. The Dolphins are a good team. They aren't far from being a great team. Listen in to this podcast for the silver/teal lining. It's 2024, and Alex has a message for you all. The Bills are coming to Miami. The AFC East "marbles" are on the line. The Dolphins CAN beat the Bills, but it won't be easy. There's a playoff game in the near future too - what might happen? Join our conversation.

0 Jets, Here come the Boys

Alex and Scott are back in the studio to talk about the Jets game, Hard Knocks, and the upcoming Cowboys game. Join the conversation about cancelling narratives. Waddle, Tua, Chubb, McDaniel... What fun it was to take in the game against "gang green", relive some moments through their conversation and get some Hard Knocks highlights. Total Domination. Scott and Alex toy with a new, short segment on MVPs (Most Valuable Person). What is the Dolphins history with the Cowboys? Who will win this Sunday? What is the current outlook for a road to Las Vegas?

Titans, Jets, and Things to Fix

Alex and Scott are joined by Andy Korge for this episode. In preparation for a future push to bring on more remote guests, we used a new tool for this recording, so please bear with us for some minor audio issues. The Titans loss was a surprise to everyone. Alex made a list of mistakes made in the game, any one of which would have changed the final score. Some are on players, some are on coaches, (and we didn't address officiating) but all need to be fixed to make this team a contender. There are some players on the roster who could have an impact, but are currently unused. Why? Injuries have hurt the Dolphins, and Grier has work to do to find more contributors and depth. The Jets are coming to town, and suddenly this doesn't look like the lock it should be. What do these three predict?

AVG Hard Knocks Washington

Scott and Alex are back in the Studio on a Victory Thursday this week to record another episode. Why Thursday? Well, on reason was HBO's Hard Knocks. Both wanted to get caught up and talk about it. A few minutes have passed since the game in Washington DC, but there are some fun things to look back on. AVG, Hill, Tua, Achane... Where are the less obvious points of the Phins dominant performance? It's December, and our Dolphins are the #1 seed, will they hold? What are they going to do to the Titans this week? Who benefits the most from Hard Knocks? Lot's of fun in a short episode. Tune in and share!

Jets Stomp and Phillips Loss

Alex and Scott hit the studio on a Saturday to capture fresh thoughts on the Jets game. Just like the week before, there was a lot to like in the game, and some concerns too. First and foremost, this is a stomping of the hated Jets, so they celebrate that. The loss of Phillips is a sobering elephant in the room. What about Mike McDaniels game plane and play calling this week? What about Tua's protection of the ball? What about that MetLife field? More thoughts on the rest of the season and the Dolphins journey to the playoffs. There's an interesting tidbit about our next opponent, the Washington Commanders. How will our Dolphins fare in the nation's capitol? Join our conversation and listen in to this episode for all this and more.

Ramsey Saves the Day

It's a victory Tuesday and the two old Dolfans are back in the studio to talk about the latest in Dolphins football. The Raiders game came out a W. What did they like/love from the game? What fills these two long time football guys with hope from this game? Don't drink the Kool-Aid too hard - there were some detractors that keep surfacing game after game that need to be addressed. Without some in-season improvement, well, our Fins could be a flash in the post-season pan. What are these things? What will the Dolphins do in NY for the first black Friday game in NFL History? We are pretty sure of how it will turn out. Listen in for answers to these questions and more.

Fumble in Frankfurt

The talk about what's going to happen in the remaining games of the 2023 season. They look at the Raiders game, and announce an upcoming guest to the podcast who played for the Dolphins!

Tua Wields a Broom

It's post Halloween weekend week, so, the title makes a little sense in a double entendre way. Scott and Jando (Alex is away on a business trip) get together to make this joyous podcast on a "victory Thursday" to talk about the Patriots game and the upcoming Chiefs matchup in Germany. Why does Scott mention Ted Lasso? Who shows class and who doesn't? What about the trade deadline that just passed? What did the young buck see with his younger eyes in that Pats game? Why is Scott pissed at Twitter / X ? What is the key to the game against the Chiefs (unfortunately no surprises here). Grit your teeth in anticipation for seeing a non-footballer every five minutes. At least an hour of great conversation in this one, don't miss it!

The Fix is On

Alex and Scott are in the studio on an angry Monday to talk about the Eagles game. Final score Dolphins 28, Eagles 24 - at least that SHOULD have been the score, if not for the refs, who acted like the mafia paid them off. Listen to our take on this. Instead the Dolphins head home with more injuries, a loss, and a game that fits the narrative of all the national sports media who hate Tua and our team. Some good things worthy of mentioning. Some other reasons, aside from the refs, that the Dolphins lost. There's a lot to talk about here. Plus, there's a must win game coming up next week that may not be the easy win we had predicted earlier. Listen in to get our experts opinions on all this and more.

Party and Stomp

Alex and Scott and Andy and Jando and Eric and Jeff and MORE partied it up at Hard Rock stadium at an epic tailgate, then headed into the building to watch the Fins stomp on the hapless Panthers. Was it HOT? Were there beverages? Were we worried when the Panthers went up 14-0? What were we able to analyze from our seats. What did the stadium sound like on big plays? Andy joins Alex and Scott in this episode to talk about the game, the weekend, and what's coming... the road game in Philadelphia.

Six Dolfans Around the Table

Alex, Scott, Andy, Jando, Eric and Jeff have reunited in Miami to talk about the Giants game, and SEE the Panthers game at Hard Rock. Listen in as the group of long time friends talk highlights, a few mistakes, concerns, injuries and predictions. There's both wisdom and humor at the table. Has anyone changed their tune after 5 games? What will happen in game six? This one-of-a-kind podcast is worth the listen, tune in!

Take the Punch and Roll

Alex and Scott felt the blow Buffalo dealt like any of you, all the way in SoCal. They recorded this episode with a message: It's not over. This is not the end. Amidst the drubbing, concerns about the play of the offensive line, and defense that had no answers to anything, there are still bright spots. Most of the numbers (except for the scoreboard) tell a different story? A certain linebacker that these two nicknamed after a band, well, how did he do in the loss? Where did the line really fail (you probably all know this) and just how bad was it? Why were there no answers from the mastermind DC? Listen in, there's good with the bad, and there's reasonable hope. Especially for the coming games.

Seventy? Seventy!!!

The Dolphins, for the first time in franchise history, put up a 70 burger on the Donkeys. Alex and Scott don't usually mock opponents, but the Donks clearly quit and deserve a little derision. Payton too. Amidst all the scoring, and some delicious turnovers, there's a lot to talk about.  Fans can feel on top of the world, because right now, the Dolphins are. The two old gurus celebrate with you for most of this episode, but aren't blind to a couple of glaring mistakes that could haunt this team when we face a real opponent, like next week in Buffalo. Be happy. Enjoy! This has never happened before and McDaniel is undeniably an offensive genius - but still flawed. Should we have gone for the scoring record? Will injuries haunt us in Buffalo? Listen in.

Tua 5 Belicheat 0

Another Victory Monday, another podcast episode for you. The Dolphins travelled to New England to whoop some Patriot butt and got the job done. Scott and Alex dig into the game, player performances, coaching, and more. Listen in as these to look into some key aspects of team play and how it can affect the rest of our season. Observations are reinforced by some PFF analysis. Thoughts on Bill Belichick. Denver is coming to Miami for the Dolphins first home game, how will that pan out? We discuss all this and more, tune in!

Sounds of an Electrifying Win

Scott and Alex made the trip to SoFi for the Dolphins Chargers shootout. The crowd made it sound like a home game. The offense was unleashed. The tailgate felt like it was on the surface of the sun, but good conversations were had. Listen in to this podcast to hear these two talk about the experience, the game, and more. Included in this episode are actual sounds from the game! Hear a brief preview of the New England game as well.

Rollercoaster Wildcard Wrap

A rainy Monday morning. Two dudes with some years on them. A rare Miami Dolphins playoff game to discuss. Proud that our team fought so hard. Disappointed that so many mistakes were made. A game that could have been won. Miami showed that despite all the challenges, they belonged in the NFL playoffs, despite FOX's housewife snub. Listen in for a dulcet "late night" sounding voice and an examination of this game. What do the Dolphins need to do this offseason?

So you’re saying there’s a chance???

Recording on a rainy Tuesday morning in SoCal, Alex and Scott get to talk about our Miami Dolphins being in the playoffs for the first time in our five season history. The Jets game was difficult to watch, but they have some observations to make about the W. Vegas isn't giving the Dolphins any hope for the Bills game, do these two? Tune in to a short but fun episode and find out.

Self Destruct in 3 2 1

It's early Monday Morning in a brand new 2023 and all Dolfans are dealing with the latest disappointment, now out of control of their own playoff destiny. Alex and Scott "have" to talk about this game, and what we "know" about these 2022 Miami Dolphins. Tune in for some tidbits on the game, the general state of the team, the quarterback situation, the coaching situation, the general management / front office, and more. What historical precedent is there? A unique look at other teams coaching and penalties and where the Dolphins fit in this season. Do the Dolphins have a good chance to beat the Jets at home this Sunday? Will they?

Tua is down

Two Old Dolfans did a quick turnaround (quick for them at any rate) to address the Tua QB/Injury/Health/effect issue that had not been announced when they recorded the "slide" episode Monday morning. In essence, what does this injury mean? How does it effect Tua the man? How does it affect the team? What should the front office be doing? What does it mean for this year? What does it mean for the future? Will we see Tua again this year? Will we EVER see him play in a Dolphins Uni again? Should we? Join them for 30 minutes on this - a "bonus" episode this week, because it IS that important.

December Slide is Not Electric

Can we have a laugh to alleviate the Christmas turd our Dolphins left on the field? Does our quarterback care about losing (see post game press conference)? Alex and I got together with a non-alcohol related Christmas hangover and reviewed the Jekyll and Hyde Packers game. Tua. We have to talk about him, there's a firestorm around him now. McDaniel. His rookie coach questionable choices and clear weaknesses and areas to improve. As old Dolphins fans, we have a long legacy of poor performances in the month of December and we talk about this and take a few moments to talk about some Social Media comments. Crappy time to dedicate an episode to Wilkins, but a promise is a promise and he should have been in the Pro Bowl.

Muzzle the Dawgs

The Miami Dolphins finally had a game where the fans could relax and enjoy for more than half of it (especially the old ones who don’t want stress). The Browns were no match for Tua and his high powered offense, and the defense stuffed the Cleveland run game. The Two Old Dolfans entered the studio […]
